  • Everyone knows dieting isn’t easy. Sacrificing your favorite unhealthy foods, putting your body through rigorous exercises and having a platter full of bland and unsatisfying foods waiting to be eaten in a timely manner can cause you to get a dour attitude and discontent towards your dieting regiment.  Don’t fret though, we’re here to provide you with some truly yummy foods that can make dieting seem easier and that you probably assumed contained more calories than your strict diet demands!

    Kettle’s Baked Potato Chips

If you’re like most people, than you probably love those plastic bags full of salty, crunchy and flavorful potato chips. Yet, you know you must stay away from them because they contain almost as much fat as potatoes in those delicious bags of unhealthiness! So here’s a specific brand and type of potato chips that sounds like it’s too good to be true to fit under your healthy diet: Kettle’s Baked Potato Chips! These can be found in your local wholefoods market and you can even find it online, which provides a more in-detailed nutrition chart. As you probably already know, Kettle’s brand produces a lot of different chips and it’s easy to pick one that isn’t right for you (although it may look appealing). So make sure you pick the one that says “baked” and look over the nutrition chart, which should boast of being made from all organic and natural products and having zero trans-fat, zero preservatives and zero gluten. They also have 2 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein! Not so bad for a bag of delicious potato chips, is it? Oh wait, they also come in two different flavors. You can either choose to go with the “lightly salted” one, or the “hickory honey bbq,” which is a little sweeter in taste.

    Almond Milk

For the sake of maintaining a strict diet, you are frequently asked to avoid regular dairy products such as milk, ice cream and shakes due to their high calorie and fat content. But I bet you never thought of trying almond milk! Unlike low-calorie milk that often tastes watery and lacks the flavor you crave that’s found in regular milk, low-calorie almond milk does not share the same flavor-less problem! As a matter of fact, low-calorie almond milk has an original flavor that is only 60 calories per serving! But wait, they even offer a low-calorie almond milk with unsweetened vanilla flavor that is only 40 calories per serving! You can make some delicious low-calorie shakes with these amazing milks or even just drink it as it is if you’re tired of drinking your diet-based protein shakes! Almond milk provides a wonderful source of energy, which is one of the nutritious advantages of eating almonds, and is especially high in Vitamin E content. Even if you are lactose-intolerant, don’t worry! Low-calorie almond milk is also lactose-free!

    Cheese

Dieting is the worst thing ever for cheese lovers. Regular cheese found in stores and most other yummy meals such as Macaroni and Cheese and Pizza contains way too many calories and fats to be considered a healthy food. But we know of something to  help your cheese cravings and to provide you with a yummy snack with very low calorie count that you can eat throughout the day! The Laughing Cow Cheese Bites! I’m sure you’ve heard of them, as they are a well-known brand, and similar to the Kettle Brand, they also have a variety of different products, which are not always right for you. But they offer a “light gourmet” cheese pack which contains 50% less fat than most other cheese snacks! You can eat 5 little packs of cheese bites throughout the day for a total calorie count of only 35 calories!

    Frozen Strawberries
Fruits in general are wonderful sources of nutrients and energy. You may have to avoid some fruits for their high calorie content, but unsweetened and organic frozen strawberries are both visually appealing and appetizing low-calorie snacks that can cut down your cravings for unhealthy fruity shakes! Frozen organic and unsweetened strawberries contain no saturated fats, no cholesterol and are only about 70 calories per cup! And if that isn’t enough to make you want to eat it, they also are very high in dietary fiber, manganese, iron, potassium and Vitamin C! You can even add some strawberries to your low-calorie almond milk to make a delicious and amazingly low-calorie homemade strawberry shake!

    Celery Sticks

What can be better than eating vegetables for snacks? Celery sticks are a more popular and well-known veggie plant that can be eaten by itself with a variety of different condiments for added flavor. Celery sticks have astonishingly low calorie-counts. As a matter of fact, it is 1 calorie for every 4-inch celery stick! So you can eat as many as you want without worrying about gaining unwanted calories or fats. You can even buy from a local wholefoods store or make a homemade low-calorie ranch to go with your celery!

    Ice Cream/Frozen Yogurt

You may be surprised to hear that you can still eat your favorite flavor of ice cream without going against your dietary confines! You probably try to avoid the ice cream section at you local grocery so you wouldn’t be tempted by the creamy, cold and sweet concoction of fat and calories that you love so much! But don’t be disheartened just yet, there are ice creams available that are specifically made for dieters in mind! The Organic Soy Frozen Yogurt (which is basically the same as ice cream) brand has a lot of low-fat soy ice creams (or as some call it, frozen yogurts) available for purchase. They consist of considerably low contents of saturated fat, trans fat, and calories from regular ice creams and come in many different flavors. It is made from all natural ingredients and do not include artificial flavors or sweeteners! This brand is available at all wholefoods stores, so remember to check the soy section the next time you go!

    Hummus

Dietary meals are often lacking not only in the taste department, but also in the variety department and consist of unsatisfying and limited amounts for consumption. The great thing about hummus is that it can be eaten as a snack as well as a delicious and satisfying meal. You can either purchase low-fat hummus from the refrigerated meals section at your local wholefoods store or you can make some low-fat hummus at home using low-calorie ingredients. Most hummus recipes call for tahini, which gives the hummus the warm, creamy texture and taste. But since tahini is made from fatty nuts, similar to peanut butter, it usually consists of more calories and fat than you are comfortable adding in your daily meals. So to keep the original creamy texture for your hummus, you can replace the tahini with a thick, creamy, non-fat yogurt combined with a little bit of extra light silken tofu, to give it that creamy taste and texture but to keep the taste of tofu away. These two contains a lot less fat and calories than what can be found in regular hummus made with tahini. Not only are these low-fat hummus healthy for you, they are also tasty!
